The miGoogle conference begins on November 10, 2022 with a selection of full and half day workshops that provide an opportunity for deep learning and exploration of classroom tools and instructional strategies.

Sessions are led by experienced Michigan educators and feature practical ideas to help you implement technology into your classroom. Scroll down to view this year’s session. Preregistration is required for hands-on workshops.

Level 1 Google Certification Bootcamp

This special 1-day Certification Bootcamp will provide the information you need to begin the process of becoming a Google Educator! At the end of this fun, fast paced 1-day training, you will be ready to take your level 1 Google Certification Exam!

Note: This workshop is designed to help you earn your level 1 certification. Becoming certified will require additional work and require the purchase of the certification exam ($10).

Morning Workshops (8:30 - 11:30 am)

METS Coaching Roundtable

Join the Michigan Educational Technology Specialists Group (METS) for a morning of round tables, gamestorming, and more.  The leadership team will facilitate discussions on some challenging topics we see across our districts with integrating technology in meaningful ways.  We then will use Gamestorming as a way to generate new ideas we can take back to our districts to implement.  Lastly we will have a bracket tournament on best lesson idea utilizing a piece of technology.

Teaching with Google Classroom

Are you spending time each day checking in homework, printing out make up work, and helping students find missing documents? Most teachers spend a tremendous amount of time on these record keeping activities. Google Classroom can help you with these tasks so that you can focus your energy on connecting with your students and designing creative lessons. This session will help you set up Google Classroom and create a digital classroom workflow! You will learn effective strategies for assigning work with Classroom, manage due dates and missing assignments, and explore strategies for providing student feedback and grades. Save time with Google Classroom!

Best Practices for the Google Admin Console

The Google Admin Console is a constantly expanding resource to help  manage users and organizational policies. This session will focus on tested management strategies organizing users, establishing policies for core services like Drive, Gmail, and Classroom, and keeping your data safe and secure. You’ll learn about the latest updates to the admin console and various upgrade options worth considering.

Teachers guide to Chromebooks

Your Chromebooks is more than a fancy typewriter! While they may seem simple, Chromebooks have a lot of “hidden” features and tools that you can use to engage and challenge your students. You’ll learn about some of the unique elements of ChromeOS, discover the sneaky ways students try to trick their teachers, and learn about various extensions for all grade levels and subject areas. This session is ideal for anyone teaching in a school Chromebook-using school.

Chromebook deployment and management

Have you deployed Chromebooks in your district? Considering a 1:1 program? This session will provide practical advice, tips, and tools for developing a successful Chromebook deployment. Whether you are just getting started with Chromebook, or are already managing thousands of them, you will learn essential tools, practices, and strategies for deploying, managing, monitoring, and protecting your devices.

Note: this session is an excellent follow up to the morning session on the Google Admin console.

Lesson ideas for Chromebook Classrooms (video, audio, and more!)

Are you taking full advantage of the Chromebooks in your Classroom? This session will introduce you to a variety of project ideas powered by Chromebooks. We’ll explore simple audio projects, look at various options for creating video, and explore portfolios and website design. If you have Chromebooks in your classroom, there’s something here for you! 

Note: this session is an excellent follow up to the Teachers Guide to Chromebooks offered in the morning.

Designed with Drive

Google Drive is an incredible platform for creation and collaboration. Most teachers are only scratching the surface of what they can do with Google Docs, Slides, Forms, and Jamboard. This workshop session will introduce you to best practices and strategies for creating student lessons and assignments with the Google Drive suite. It’s time to get creative with Google Drive! 

Note: this session is an excellent follow up to the Teaching with Google Classroom session offered in the morning.
